Qualifications

  • Hands-on EHS experience within a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to independently manage site-level EHS responsibilities without a direct-report team
  • Strong communication, leadership, and influencing skills with hourly employees, supervisors, plant leadership, and corporate stakeholders
  • Balance strategic program development with practical, hands-on execution
  • Willingness to work 100% onsite in Arkansas City, KS

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and applicable state and local requirements
  • Lead plant safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective-action follow-up
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, regulatory reporting, and preventive-action initiatives
  • Develop and deliver practical EHS training for hourly employees, supervisors, and plant leadership
  • Track and analyze safety metrics and KPIs to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Maintain emergency preparedness and response plans and ensure drills, procedures, and communications remain current
  • Serve as the site’s resource for workplace safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, hazardous waste, and environmental compliance
  • Partner with plant leadership and employees to integrate safety into everyday operating decisions and behaviors
  • Support environmental reporting and sustainability initiatives while maintaining workplace safety as the primary focus

Job description

Location: Arkansas City, KS

Work Setting: 100% onsite in an active manufacturing environment

Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Compensation: Up to $110,000 base salary

Bonus: Approximately 7%–10% target annual bonus

Position Summary

A well-established food and beverage manufacturing organization is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead site-level safety and environmental programs at its Arkansas City, KS facility.

This is a hands-on EHS leadership opportunity with a strong emphasis on workplace safety, regulatory compliance, risk reduction, employee training, incident prevention, and building a practical plant-floor safety culture. The EHS Manager will serve as the primary safety resource for the facility while partnering closely with operations, HR, engineering, legal, and corporate EHS leadership.

The ideal candidate has approximately 4–5+ years of progressive EHS experience within a manufacturing environment and has independently owned safety programs, investigations, training, audits, and corrective actions. This is an individual contributor role requiring someone who is equally comfortable developing programs and being visible on the plant floor.

What You’ll Do

What You Bring

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Associate degree combined with relevant certifications and strong manufacturing EHS experience may also be considered
  • Candidates without a degree may be considered when they bring especially strong and directly relevant manufacturing EHS experience
  • Professional certifications such as CSP or CHMM
  • Experience within food, beverage, dairy, aseptic, automotive, or another process-driven manufacturing environment
  • Experience with EHS software platforms such as Enablon, Intelex, VelocityEHS, or similar systems
  • Demonstrated change‑management experience and the ability to influence safety culture across a manufacturing operation
