Job summary

Fort Wayne Metals is hiring a Manufacturing Technician – Shaver Operator (No weekends) in Fort Wayne, IN. Start wage is $22.79/hr with potential to reach $26.81/hr within ~6 months. Second shift is Mon-Fri, 3:10p-11:10p. Overtime is voluntary and there is a shift premium of $1.50.

You will operate shaving equipment, set up tooling, monitor quality, and inspect material to meet customer specifications. Training and a safety-focused team support career growth.

Qualifications

• 2 years of manufacturing experience required.
• Hands-on technical experience in machining or quality control may be considered in lieu of manufacturing.
• Accurately record production data.
• Mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Operate shaving equipment to meet customer specifications and inspect material.
• Set up, change tooling, and operate shaver to remove material and meet size/surface specs.
• Monitor quality and surface conditions; inspect wiring for quality and adjust as needed.
• Adjust tooling to proper shave depth using a gauge.
• Troubleshoot and replace parts in shaving head, rollers, or wire path as needed.
• Use a micrometer to determine size.
• Operate forklift to move large coils up to 3000 lbs.
• Operate swager to create a point on the wire for entry into the shaver.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.
