Job Title: SharePoint Web Parts Developer & UX Specialist

SharePoint Online | Web Parts | SPFx | UX | Build, Migration & Testing

Job Summary

The SharePoint Web Parts Developer & UX Specialist is responsible for supporting the design, build, configuration, migration, testing, documentation, and implementation of a scalable SharePoint-based Intake and Portfolio Health Management solution. Working under the direction of the Solution Architect / Technical Lead, this role will extend the existing Intake Management solution through modern SharePoint pages and standard or custom web parts, build user and administrative experiences, implement supporting workflows and integrations, migrate representative data, and support validation and rollout across value streams.

This is a hands-on delivery role for one or two consulting resources. The successful candidate will work within the approved architecture, independently own assigned components and deliverables, produce clear test and user documentation, and collaborate closely with business users and the technical lead. The role combines SharePoint page and web-part development with user-experience design, Azure DevOps integration, data configuration, testing, reconciliation, and implementation support.

Key Responsibilities

SharePoint Web Part & Interface Build

• Build and configure SharePoint lists, modern pages, forms, views, navigation, filters, standard and custom web parts, dashboards, detail pages, administrative pages, and reusable value-stream components.
• Develop web-part experiences for intake, triage, pre-discovery, approvals, governance, certification, actions, and administrative maintenance.
• Implement supporting workflows and notifications using approved automation patterns. Use Power Apps only when explicitly approved for a requirement not suited to the web-part interface.
• Implement configuration-driven structures for value streams, initiatives, teams, workstreams, Azure DevOps mappings, milestones, refinement, thresholds, required fields, readiness, value, notifications, and reporting controls.
• Build web-part experiences for request submission and status, portfolio management, program health, data quality, monthly reporting, and quarterly reporting.
• Implement clear loading, refresh, error, stale-data, missing-data, and last-successful-refresh indicators.
• Follow approved patterns for standard web parts, custom SPFx components, source control, environments, deployment, and documentation.

Integration, Data & Migration Support

• Configure or build Azure DevOps integration components that supply SharePoint web parts with agreed work-item types, fields, hierarchy, sprint data, and direct links.
• Preserve Azure DevOps Work Item ID as the delivery key and prevent refresh from overwriting SharePoint-maintained business metadata.
• Configure scheduled and administrator-triggered refresh, success and failure handling, freshness indicators, setup queues for new Features, and unmatched-record identification.
• Support migration, transformation, loading, and reconciliation of agreed intake, configuration, program-health, reporting, and historical data.
• Implement approved data structures and calculations for refinement, scope, build progress, capacity, projections, dependencies, risks, decisions, readiness, value, health, trend, and data quality.
• Maintain accurate build, migration, defect, reconciliation, and exception records.

UX, Reporting & Accessibility

• Develop intuitive web-part dashboards, filters, summaries, drill-downs, navigation, detail views, and role-appropriate experiences for requestors, product teams, governance participants, administrators, and leadership.
• Create reusable monthly value-stream, monthly initiative, quarterly portfolio, and quarterly value-stream views using approved controls and retained snapshots.
• Configure report-ready outputs or exports that reduce manual reassembly of metrics, ratings, trends, narratives, risks, dependencies, decisions, actions, milestones, outcomes, and controls.
• Apply consistent terminology, layout, accessibility, approved-browser compatibility, common desktop responsiveness, and clear business-language guidance.
• Participate in wireframe reviews, design validation, demonstrations, and iterative feedback.

Testing, Deployment, Documentation & Handoff

• Develop and execute test scripts covering workflows, permissions, security, integration refresh, failures, history, new-Feature detection, calculations, reporting, accessibility, deployment, and regression.
• Support pilot execution, compare outputs with current reporting, investigate differences, correct defects, and document reconciliations and accepted variances.
• Assist with development, test, and production deployments using approved versioning, source control, release, rollback, monitoring, and diagnostics.
• Prepare end-user guidance, administrator procedures, troubleshooting, configuration, refresh-monitoring, screenshots, demonstrations, and training materials.
• Participate in discovery, design validation, testing, documentation, deployment, and handoff while taking end-to-end ownership of assigned deliverables.

Basic Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building SharePoint Online solutions, including lists, modern pages, forms, views, navigation, permissions, and web parts.
• Hands-on experience developing or configuring modern SharePoint web parts, including custom SPFx components or comparable approved patterns.
• Experience implementing dashboard-style SharePoint experiences, filtering, detail views, administrative interfaces, notifications, workflows, and role-based access.
• Experience supporting data migration, transformation, reconciliation, and validation between Excel, SharePoint, Azure DevOps, or other structured sources.
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps work items, hierarchy, Area Paths, Iteration Paths, Story Points, sprint data, and delivery reporting.
• Experience creating and executing test scripts, documenting defects and exceptions, and supporting user acceptance and production deployment.
• Ability to translate architecture, data models, field mappings, wireframes, business rules, and acceptance criteria into working components.
• Demonstrated independence, ownership, attention to detail, clear communication, and reliable follow-through.

Preferred Skills

• Strong experience with SPFx, custom SharePoint web parts, TypeScript or JavaScript, Microsoft Graph or REST APIs, Git, and deployment pipelines.
• Experience connecting SharePoint web-part solutions with Azure DevOps and implementing refresh, error, freshness, and monitoring controls.
• Experience with Power BI, structured reporting exports, printable SharePoint views, or automated PowerPoint generation.
• Experience building configurable SharePoint web-part solutions for portfolio management, intake, governance, program health, data quality, readiness, or value realization.
• Knowledge of historical snapshots, audit history, certified periods, baselines, overrides, trend calculations, and reconciliation controls.
• Experience applying accessibility, usability, information architecture, least-privilege permissions, and responsive design practices.

Engagement Role & Measures of Success

• Works under the guidance of the Solution Architect / Technical Lead, potentially partnering with 1 other development resource, supporting hands-on SharePoint web-part build, integration, migration, testing, UX, documentation, deployment, and handoff.
• Assigned components conform to the approved architecture, data model, design patterns, security model, and acceptance criteria.
• Users can complete intake, triage, portfolio, health, readiness, value, governance, reporting, and administrative activities through clear web-part experiences.
• Migration and integration results are validated, reconciled, documented, and supported by repeatable tests.
• End-user guidance, administrator procedures, demonstrations, training, and assigned technical documentation are complete.
