Job summary

Dreamwear Inc. is seeking a Product Development Assistant to join our Shapewear team in New York.

This hands-on role supports the full product development lifecycle, coordinating with overseas factories and internal partners to move samples, approvals, POs, and milestones. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn about fabrication, fit, construction, and quality while balancing cost and deadlines.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant work experience; internship or work experience in apparel or product development is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple styles, deadlines, and priorities.
• Excellent organizational and follow-through skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable following up with internal teams and external partners.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn and take ownership.
• Interest in apparel construction, fabrics, and shapewear is a plus.
• Desire to learn, develop, and grow within the company.

Responsibilities

• Communicate daily with overseas manufacturers and production offices regarding product development, sampling, approvals, and production status.
• Assist with the development and execution of shapewear styles from initial concept through production.
• Prepare purchase orders for overseas factories and track production and delivery status to support on-time execution.
• Maintain time-and-action calendars and production tracking charts, following up on deadlines.
• Initiate and track development samples, material requests, lab dips, testing, approvals, and submissions.
• Follow up on product specifications, quality standards, sample deadlines, testing requirements, and deliveries.
• Partner with Design and PD teams to ensure fabrics, trims, construction details, fit requirements, and other specifications communicated to factories.
• Enter and maintain accurate product information in our production management system, including style setup and PO creation.
• Coordinate and track pre-production, photo, customer, and TOP samples.
• Receive, organize, and distribute incoming samples from overseas vendors.
• Maintain organized product development samples and reference materials.
• Identify outstanding items and potential timing issues and escalate to the PD team.
• Assist Product Development Managers with additional projects and seasonal priorities.
