Job summary

Leggett & Platt Incorporated in Missouri is seeking a skilled machine operator to maintain production within an automated cell and meet strict quality targets. You will perform tool changes, load materials, and rework non-conforming product while assisting with packaging of finished goods.

Candidates must read prints, operate a fork truck, use basic inspection tools, and document processes accurately. A commitment to safety and continuous improvement is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform duties within 30 days.
• Must complete all 30-day requirements within 60 days.
• Ability to read and understand prints/drawings.
• Operate machinery efficiently and perform tool offsets.

• Follow written instructions and quality plans.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production on all machines in the automated cell to meet performance and quality goals.
• Perform basic tool changes, tool offsets and routine maintenance.
• Load raw material and chamfer as needed; rework non-conforming products.
• Assist packaging and handling of finished goods and raw materials.
• Report problems to supervisor and halt production if out of spec.
• Ensure a clean, organized, safe work area and follow CiP processes.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions

• Must be able to fill out all necessary paperwork accurately

Primary Duties

• Maintain production on all machinery within the automated cell in order to meet department performance and quality objectives
• Perform basic tool changeovers, tool offsets, and machine maintenance
• Chamfer and load raw material onto the bar feeders
• Rework non-conforming product as necessary
• Assist in the packaging and handling of finished product and raw materials
• Assist with all of the Material Handler duties when possible
• Report to the supervisor any problems that occur within the automated cell
• Will discontinue production and notify supervisor as needed if process does not fall within specifications or is suspected to be nonconforming
• Identify and/or record any problems relating to the product, process and to the management system
• Control further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
• Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity or costly downtime related to the product, process, or the system
• Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
• Verify the implementation of solutions
• Keep work area clean, organized, and safe
• Report to the supervisor, management team members, or Administrative
