Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, MA, seeks a Head Electrician/Board Op for the St. Germain Stage to ensure high-quality lighting for all performances.

The role reports to the Lighting & Projections Supervisor and runs from 9/26/2026 to 11/1/2026, with housing available for the season. The incumbent will program and operate lighting and projection consoles, maintain venue electrics, hang and strike instruments, and collaborate with students and volunteers while upholding production

Qualifications

• Proven theatrical lighting operation and troubleshooting experience.
• Proficiency with ETC lighting consoles and basic projection software.
• Ability to work independently and manage venue-specific logistics.
• Comfortable working with students and volunteers.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate lighting and projection consoles for all St. Germain productions and events; replicate the design as called by Stage Management.
• Repair and maintain venue-specific electrics; perform daily pre-show technical sweeps.
• Hang, focus, and strike instruments according to the plot and designer instructions.
• Maintain up-to-date paperwork for each production including plot, channel hook-up and show run sheets.
• Aid in constructing and wiring specialty items such as light boxes, star drops, and LED Tape projects.
• Keep the electrics shop and lighting booth clean and organized; assist in updating inventory.

JOB OVERVIEW

Ensures high-quality lighting for every performance in the St. Germain venue. This role acts as the primary technician and operator for this space, often working independently to maintain the show's integrity.

REQUIREMENTS
