Gem is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our AI Products engineering team in San Francisco. You will oversee AI-powered product experiences and drive the roadmap with Product and Design.

You will own AI quality end-to-end, balance fast experimentation with reliability, and model ownership and accountability as part of Gem's values. Office-based at SF HQ, not eligible for full-time remote work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as software engineer and leadership experience.
• Experience leading AI-powered product initiatives from prototype to production.
• Ability to define evaluation frameworks and drive ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of fullstack and AI engineers building AI-powered product experiences.
• Set direction and guide technical strategy.
• Partner with Product and Design to define the AI roadmap and experimentation strategy.
• Own AI quality end-to-end.
• Balance rapid experimentation with production-grade reliability.

• Engage with customers to understand how AI performance translates to business impact.
