Job summary

Dassault Falcon Jet is looking for an Aircraft Upholsterer to sew aircraft soft goods, including crew and passenger seats. The role requires following Dassault Quality standards and interpreting design drawings. Strong attention to detail and basic computer skills are essential.

This position is based in Arkansas and offers a pay rate between $22 to $29 per hour, plus comprehensive benefits including healthcare coverage and a 401k plan.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience or completion of the STEP Program in Upholstery Sewing.
  • Able to lift and transport up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.

Job description

Job Summary

Sewing aircraft soft goods through the knowledge and skills of aircraft upholstery via Dassault Falcon Jet standards. Beginner use of drawings, blueprints, design drawings, and/or spec control prints following Dassault Quality standards. Soft goods include crew seats, passenger seats, divans, curtains, and other assorted interior soft goods.

Principal Duties / Responsibilities (essential Functions)
  • Perform daily maintenance of sewing equipment
  • Perform sewing operations in accordance with Dassault Falcon Jet “F” standards.
  • Fabricate seat covers and other aircraft parts using Dassault standards of quality, including straight, French, or lock stitch, and serge (as appropriate to skill level).
  • Comply with sewing instruction and customer specification / IFS description.
  • Set up and operate equipment
  • Sew straps and baggage nets
  • Perform at the expected standards of safety, quality, schedule, and cost
  • Work within the customer specifications, engineering data, industrial definition using pattern data, company standards, and work instructions.
  • Select correct material from specification, CAM orders, and record lot numbers
  • Will be mentored by an experienced technician or team lead
  • Operate and adjust industrial single-needle and double-stitch machines.
  • Interpret pattern blueprints, completion drawings, company standards, work instructions, 3D model information.
  • Perform proper maintenance practices in accordance with DFJ FPS, “F” standards and quality standards, including proper glue application, adhesive bonding, and hardware.
  • Correctly handle and use all required tools specific to the current job assignment.
  • Correctly handle and use all required chemicals and adhesives related to the current job assignment, including general knowledge and ability to retrieve data from the MSDS safety books.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong desire to learn and attention to detail
  • Minimum 1 year of experience or completion of the STEP Program in Upholstery Sewing or related.
  • Must not be allergic to chemical solvents, paints, adhesives, natural or manmade materials, fabrics, or feathers.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and in unusual positions.
  • Able to lift and transport up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Visual capacity and muscular dexterity to work on fine detail, high-cost products with a minimum of errors and rework.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.
  • Able to stock and remove materials from bins above storage level according to OSHA standards.
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Aircraft upholstery fabrication experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems when needed.
  • Manufacturing, vocational, tech school training, and/or related college credits.
  • Computer and/or software training or experience.
  • Able to work from documentation such as MES, FPS, WI, blueprints, drawings, F-standards, preparation packages, etc.
  • Courses in state or federal vocational technical upholstery programs.
  • 3D model experience.
Working Conditions

Factory/manufacturing environment subject to high noise levels, adhesive or chemical odors, dust, and normal climate control.

This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position because it includes as part of the essential job duties operating equipment and tools on a routine basis. Additionally, the duties of this position concern the service and completion of aircraft, and overall airworthiness of the aircraft. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety of this employee and others, the employee must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while performing safety activities.

Compensation And Benefits

The compensation for this position typically falls between $22 and $29 per hour. This position is eligible for overtime. This position may be eligible for a shift differential or relocation assistance. Note, the final compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of relevant experience, Falcon-specific experience, relevant education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
