Job summary

Mann + Hummel, Inc. on the shop floor is seeking a dedicated Sewing Machine Operator to support production across multiple sewing projects.

You will start and monitor sewing machinery, prepare materials, thread needles, and adjust machine settings to meet project specifications. Responsibilities include inspecting stitched work for faults, reporting discrepancies to supervisors, and ensuring finished products align with design and merchandising instructions.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all material and auxiliary supplies are available prior to beginning
• Starts sewing machinery at the beginning of a shift and tests it for proper functionality
• Addresses any discrepancies or problems faced during the testing period
• Draws threads through needles and adjusts machine functions to meet the requirements of the sewing project
• Positions materials under needles to sew them together
• Replaces and rethreads needles for a subsequent project or in case of the existing one needing more thread
• Observes operations to detect any faults or defects in stitching
• Notifies supervisors of any problems or discrepancies during the sewing process
• Ensures the finished product conforms to the design and merchandizing instructions provided in the work order
• Ensures excess material or threads are cut away from the finished product
• Performs general and preventative maintenance tasks on sewing machines to ensure their longevity
• Additional duties as assigned
