Job summary

Labor Finders is seeking a decisive sewing machine operator to construct and alter attire and other pieces. You will use patterns and client input to tailor bespoke pieces, and meet with clients to craft fittings as required.

You should possess strong pattern-reading skills, high attention to detail, and experience operating sewing machines. This on-site role includes routine maintenance and basic fault repair of equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience as a sewing machine operator is required.
• Ability to create, read, and follow patterns.
• Working knowledge of sewing machine mechanics.
• Strong eye sight and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Decide on appropriate sewing techniques before work begins.
• Meet with consumers and inspect patterns to determine job requirements.
• Perform alterations or create new patterns.
• Select thread and prepare spool.
• Cut, sew, and glue fabric per article requirements.
• Attach buttons, zippers, clasps, laces, and similar fittings.
• Operate foot pedal and adjust stitch length/width.
• Replace sewing machine needle as needed.
• Detect and repair basic sewing machine faults as they occur.
• Schedule repairs for sewing machine and fittings.

To ensure success as a sewing machine operator, you should display an impeccable awareness of all sewing procedures. An outstanding sewing machine operator will be able to repair minor problems affecting their equipment.

Sewing Machine Operator Responsibilities:

• Deciding on appropriate sewing techniques before work commences.
• Meeting with consumers and inspecting patterns to determine each job's requirements.
• Performing alterations to existing patterns or creating your own ones.
• Selecting suitable thread and placing this onto the spool spin.
• Cutting, sewing, and gluing fabric according to the requirements of each article.
• Affixing buttons, zippers, clasps, laces, and similar fittings.
• Operating the foot pedal, plus the stitch length and width regulators, as you sew.
• Replacing the sewing machine's needle, as required.
• Detecting and repairing basic faults with the sewing machine as they occur.
• Scheduling repairs for the sewing machine and its fittings, as needed.

Sewing Machine Operator Requirements:
