EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EXISTING EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF SEWERAGE.
This employment list will also be used for future EASTANDWEST Jefferson vacancies in this Department as they occur.The purpose of this position is to operate and maintain a major Waste Water Treatment Plant facility in Jefferson Parish in accordance with standards set by the Department of Sewerage and the state department of Environmental Quality and Federal E.P.A. Under the supervision of a higher classification operator and/or a Superintendent; work includes performing sample testing for various agents and agent parameters, i.e., dissolved oxygen levels, PH levels, particulate matter, chlorine residuals, and solids tests. Checks and records various data in logs and data sheets, i.e., scale readings, gallons processed, polymer and chlorine usage, sludge depths, sample test results, and daily activities performed. Pumps sludge to tank digesters; dismantles and clears choked and flooded equipment; assists in rebuilding and installing equipment. Monitors and adjusts setting and conditions as necessary, i.e., flow rates, chemical feeds, sludge levels, switching pumps, and computer alarms. Employee works on a rotating shift basis which involves day, weekend, and holiday schedules. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.
