Job summary

The City of Columbus is seeking a sewer maintenance professional to construct, repair, and inspect municipal wastewater and stormwater systems. Work includes clearing blockages, operating heavy equipment, and coordinating with the public to communicate findings from investigations.

Required is a valid driver’s license, and by probation, a Class A commercial license with air brakes (Tankers endorsement may be required).

Qualifications

• Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to identify problems and determine practical solutions.
• Attention to safety procedures and hazard awareness.

Responsibilities

• Clean, repair, and maintain catch basins, manholes, culverts, and other sewer components.
• Inspect sewer systems and locate blockages, recommend corrective actions.
• Operate vehicles with Class A license to haul crew, materials, and equipment.
• Excavate and backfill, install saddles and perform concrete work as needed.
