Job summary

Lower Paxton Township is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Mechanic I for the Sewer Department. This full-time position involves skilled manual work in constructing and maintaining the sanitary sewer system, including installation or replacement of private sewers and field inspections.

Work hours are typically four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days, starting at 6:30 a.m., with the department located at 5993 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program.
• One year of experience as a general laborer is required.
• A valid driver’s license is required at time of hire; a valid Pennsylvania CDL Class B license is required as a condition of hire or successful completion of the probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled manual work in construction and maintenance of the sanitary sewer system.
• Install or replace private sewers and work on private property as part of the replacement crew.
• Conduct visual inspections of sanitary sewer lines and engage in sewer inspection functions (manholes, pump stations, meters, and related facilities).
• Assist in inspection and maintenance of sewer flow meters and monitoring of sewer flow levels.
