Job summary

City of Raleigh seeks a Field Supervisor for the Repair Program in the Sewer Maintenance Division to oversee crews repairing sanitary sewer deficiencies and handling emergency responses. duties include planning jobs, allocating resources, and documenting work progress in both indoor and outdoor settings.

The position requires supervising labor, coordinating safety practices, and guiding equipment operations while supporting city emergency response and on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 3–5 years of light to medium construction equipment operation.
• Valid NC Class C license or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire; Class A CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• NC WPCSOCC Collection System Operator Certification Grade I or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first level supervisor for labor and equipment operator staff, by assigning work and monitoring work completion.
• Oversee skilled and semi-skilled maintenance workers; guide tool/equipment selection and enforce safety policies.
• Assist with hiring, promotions, transfers, and performance evaluations.
• Perform quality assurance checks on completed work and electronic work orders.
• Assist with training staff on work processes, safety procedures and tasks.
• Directly oversee heavy equipment operators who excavate sanitary sewer mains, manholes and appurtenances.
• Plan, monitor, and review daily work activities; manage inventory and resources; coordinate repairs.
• Set up/teardown traffic control zones and safety equipment; ensure compliance with regulations.
