Job summary

City of Fort Wayne is seeking a Professional Engineer to lead major sewer infrastructure projects from concept to construction, guiding teams and driving critical decisions for public health and city growth.

Responsibilities include coordinating with operations, contractors, and regulatory agencies; overseeing lift stations, inflow reduction, and system improvements; and developing budgets for long-term planning, with supervisory duties over Sewer Program staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or ABET-accredited program.
• Seven (7) years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong experience in infrastructure or utility project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead sewer capital improvement projects from planning through construction.
• Coordinate with operations, contractors, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
• Oversee system improvements including lift stations and inflow reduction.
• Supervise staff, assign work, and ensure quality and progress across projects.
• Develop budgets, track expenditures, and support long-term system planning.
