City of Somerville seeks a Working Foreman SHMEO/Sewer to oversee sewer system construction, maintenance, and operation, including mains, drains, and catch basins. Responsibilities include supervising crews, reading blueprints, and ensuring safety protocols, with emergency response duties as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and MA licenses (B with air-brake/tank; Hoisting 2B/4E). Hours are full-time, with union details and benefits outlined in the posting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or vocational school, or equivalent degree.
• Demonstrated experience supervising crews operating and maintaining a public sewer/water system or related construction experience.
• Must possess a valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Class B license with air-brake endorsement and tank endorsement.
• Must possess a Massachusetts Hoisting License with 2B and 4E restrictions.

Responsabilités

• Supervise construction, maintenance, and repair; manage personnel toward these repairs as necessary.
• Exercise proper professional and technical judgment.
• Read and follow the specifications on engineering blueprints and maps pertaining to municipal sewer systems.
• Supervise employees who enter and observe in manholes, pump stations, or confined spaces.
• Ensure safety and compliance with rules and regulations.
