City of Somerville seeks a Special Heavy Motor Equipment Operator (SHMOE) to perform sewer system maintenance, repair, and operation. The role requires knowledge of handling mains, valves, catch basins, and related infrastructure while maintaining safety standards.

Applicants must have a high school diploma, MA Class B license with air-break and tanker, and a Hoisting License 2B/4E. This is a full-time, union-position with comprehensive benefits and on-site duties.

Formación

• Graduation from high school or vocational school, or equivalent.
• One year of experience in operation/maintenance of public sewer system or related construction.
• Valid MA Class B license with air-break and tanker endorsement.
• Massachusetts Hoisting License 2B/4E within 120 days of hire.

Responsabilidades

• Operate and maintain sewer system equipment safely and efficiently.
• Install/repair mains, valves, manholes, and drainage systems.
• Read engineering blueprints and diagrams related to sewer systems.
• Respond to emergencies and assist with cross-departmental water/sewer crises.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintenance as required.
