Position Overview
The SEVIS Data and Compliance Analyst supports NC State in maintaining F-1 and J-1 records in SEVIS under the supervision of the Interim SEVIS Systems and Compliance Manager. This role acts as a designated school official (DSO) and alternate responsible officer (ARO), ensuring compliance with immigration regulations and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management and Regulatory Compliance (60%)
- Act as DSO and ARO for event‑based and periodic reporting; synthesize data across sources for new student registration, identify compliance issues, and generate reports on expected arrivals.
- Perform registration for all returning F‑1 and J‑1 students.
- Coordinate with the Interim SEVIS Systems and Compliance Manager to review and resolve student & scholar alerts in SEVIS and Sunapsis such as changes of curriculum, level, or address.
- Perform delegated SEVIS‑related database maintenance and data clean‑up services.
- Run queries in SIS and Sunapsis to support data compliance and institutional reporting.
- Remain current with SEVIS‑related and regulatory updates to ensure institutional compliance.
- Advise international students and scholars to navigate OIS processes and procedures.
Electronic Business Services Maintenance & Development (30%)
- Monitor effectiveness of new processes and assist with technical documentation for end users.
- Coordinate continual updates and maintenance of standard Sunapsis email texts with advisors.
- Manage departmental and administrative user access.
- Assist clients and departments with Sunapsis access questions, eForm submissions, pin resets, merging records, and eForm resets.
- Participate in training OIS staff on advisor‑related SEVIS and Sunapsis functions and support campus‑wide Sunapsis training.
- Maintain campus‑wide electronic business process documentation, updating for changes in MyPack, Sunapsis, OnBase, SEVIS, and other systems.
- Act as University back‑up on all Sunapsis/Global Home topics.
Other Duties (10%)
- Back up the Intake Specialist during illness or vacation.
- Provide technical assistance to policy and procedure discussions with advisors.
- Provide back‑up support to the front desk as needed.
- Communicate process updates and provide training to departments and stakeholders.
- Attend conferences and give presentations when required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Expertise with MS Office/Google Suite, especially Excel.
- Experience with university student and personnel information systems; familiarity with FERPA.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, organizational, analytical, and oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, work independently, manage complex projects, and attend to detail in database management and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Prior experience with Sunapsis International Office Module (Global Home at NC State).
- Knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL.
- One year of relevant work experience in higher education with international student and scholar populations and regulations (SEVP, F‑1, J visa).
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to access SEVIS.
