Job summary

Salem Public Schools is seeking an Anticipated Special Education Teacher for the RISE Program at Salem High School in Salem, MA for the 2025-26 school year. The role focuses on students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in inclusive settings, requiring ABA knowledge and collaboration with therapists, general educators, and families.

The teacher will manage a fluid caseload, communicate progress, and develop SMART IEPs with common planning across teams, aligning with district goals and equity values.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts SPED certification is required.
• Severe Disabilities licence is required.
• SEI Endorsement within 1 year is required.
• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.
• Ability to write effective IEPs with SMART goals.

Responsibilities

• Plan curriculum and provide specialized instruction for students with ASD.
• Collaborate across settings with therapists and staff.
• Use ABA and tech to increase engagement and independence.
• Modify materials to meet IEP needs throughout the day.
• Analyze data to improve access and performance.
• Develop IEPs with SMART goals and accommodations.
• Report progress on IEP goals at intervals.
• Maintain communication with families and agencies.
• Collaborate for effective IEPs, referrals, and transitions.
• Evaluate students’ abilities in academics and social development.
• Provide instruction in ADL skills and self-care.
• Support MCAS processes as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.
