Job summary

embecta is seeking a Setup Operator to run and set up production lines at the Holdrege, NE plant. You will produce quality devices per SOPs and GMP guidelines, monitor performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives on a 24/7 schedule.

The role requires basic literacy, the ability to read English, and familiarity with Microsoft Office. You will work in a team-based environment and contribute to safe, reliable operations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and follow SOPs and GMP requirements.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform machine set-ups, changeovers, troubleshooting, and maintenance with minimal supervision.
  • Clear machine jams and follow lockout-tagout procedures.
  • Follow inspection procedures and diagnose equipment issues.
  • Complete minor repairs and coordinate non-routine repairs.
  • Maintain performance documentation (OEE, scrap, quality).

08Setup Operator A shift - 6:20a-6:30p The Holdrege, NE plant runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, producing 2.3 billion medical devices annually. We employ approximately 450 people across all operations.

As a Setup Operator you will be responsible for producing quality products per established standard operating procedures (SOPs), utilizing good manufacturing practices (GMPs).

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform machine set-ups, changeovers, troubleshooting, and maintenance with minimal supervision.
  • Clear all machine jams, following lockout-tagout/key interrupt policy.
  • Follow required inspection procedures.
  • Diagnose the source of trouble (mechanical or electronic) in inoperative or malfunctioning production equipment.
  • Complete minor repairs and coordinate non-routine repairs.
  • Perform troubleshooting equipment adjustments as required to meet/maintain safety, output, and quality expectations.
  • Assist with major repairs as requested.
  • Maintain performance measurement documentation, including machine efficiency, volume, scrap, and quality.
  • Complete the requirements of TRS on a required schedule.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance program.
Basic Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 1+ year of troubleshooting and diagnosing manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Basic computer keyboard and navigational skills, including Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor machine problems.
  • Understanding of vibratory feed systems, cam motions, indexes, transmissions, and fluid logic control for general repairs.
