Job summary

Western States Envelope & Label is seeking a skilled Order Setup Operator (Adjuster) for the Walbridge plant on the 3rd shift. You will set up and configure folding machinery, perform changeovers, and ensure production runs meet specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily machine maintenance, changeovers, and set-ups.
  • Inspect products and adjust machinery to eliminate quality variations.
  • Troubleshoot minor operating issues with hand tools and perform minor repairs.
  • Operate all machines within the Folding Department.
  • Complete labor, time, and quality paperwork accurately.

This role ensures efficient and smooth operations by setting up and configuring machinery for production runs. This role involves operating all machines in the department, setting up work orders to specifications, troubleshooting, and performing daily maintenance and minor repairs on envelope folding machines.Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will help us uphold our high standards while contributing to our success in delivering top-notch products to our customers. Your responsibilities will include:Performing daily machine maintenance, changeovers, and set-ups.Inspecting products and making necessary mechanical adjustments to eliminate quality variations and address mechanical malfunctions.Troubleshooting minor operating difficulties using hand tools.Executing minor machine repairs.Operating all machines within the Folding Department.Examining work orders to determine production specifications.Inspecting product quality following established guidelines.Verifying order accuracy throughout production, including labeling, printing, and packaging.Performing machine wash-up and other general cleaning duties to maintain a tidy workspace.Accurately completing paperwork for labor, time, and quality tracking.Maintaining precise counts of envelopes for boxing, cartonizing, and palletizing.Neatly and uniformly packing envelopes into containers, keeping pace with machine speeds.Placing die-cut paper stacks into machine feeds and splicing paper rolls into web machine feeds.SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE IN THIS ROLE HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLSPrior experience operating a machine specifically in a production/manufacturing facility.Proven experience operating fast moving machines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals is required.Strong ruler reading skillsManual dexterityStrong initiativeTeam playerPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPrior Manufacturing experience running a production machine is preferred.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FUNCTIONSStamina & Mobility: Ability to stand and walk on concrete surfaces for the duration of a scheduled shift (8–12 hours). Must be able to frequently bend, reach, crouch, or stoop.Weight Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally from floor to waist and waist to shoulder.Manual Dexterity: Constant repetitive grasping and fine motor manipulation of paper materials and machine components.Range of Motion: Frequent twisting of the torso and lifting above shoulder height.Sensory/Vision: Must possess tactile/touch sensitivity in hands and digits. Near and far visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for quality control and safe machine operation.Work Environment: Ability to perform these functions in a manufacturing environment that may include high noise levels, varying temperatures, and paper dust.
