Job summary

Western States Envelope Company in Butler, WI is hiring Set-Up Operators to join our production team. You will set up and operate manufacturing equipment, adjust for quality, perform routine inspections, and assist with maintenance in a climate‑controlled facility. Training happens on 1st shift with 2nd/3rd shifts available; compensation includes raises and 401(k) with company match.

Qualifications

• Prior experience setting up orders on a machine in a production/manufacturing facility.
• Manual dexterity.
• Strong initiative and teamwork.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic for measurements.

Responsibilities

• Examine work orders to determine specifications and sample verification.
• Set up the machine per sample and order jacket specifications.
• Inspect product quality according to quality guidelines.
• Maintain accurate counts of envelopes to boxes, cartons, and skids.
• Adjust machine and pack envelopes uniformly and neatly, keeping up with the machine’s speed.
• Check orders properly throughout production to ensure accurate labeling, printing, and packaging of products.
• Assist with removing paper jams and preventive maintenance when scheduled.
• Transport finished goods to the appropriate area.
• Fill in as the Material Handler if needed.

Sign‑on Bonus: Earn up to $1,000.00 for joining our 2nd Shift team; up to $2,000.00 for joining our 3rd Shift team.

We are hiring Set‑Up Operators to join our production team! In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manufacturing equipment, making machine adjustments to ensure quality production, performing routine inspections, and completing basic maintenance. If you enjoy hands‑on work, solving mechanical challenges, and working in a clean, climate‑controlled environment with a supportive team, we would love to hear from you. Our Butler facility is conveniently located just minutes from Milwaukee.

Shift Availability:
2nd shift: 2:30pm–10:30pm, Mon – Fri. Training takes place on 1st shift (6:30am–2:30pm).
3rd shift: 10:30pm–6:30am, Sun – Thu. Training takes place on 1st shift (6:30am–2:30pm).

What does my workday look like in this role?

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Preferred qualifications: Prior manufacturing experience setting up production orders on a machine using hand tools.

Essential Physical & Environmental Functions

• Stamina & mobility: ability to stand and walk on concrete surfaces for the duration of a scheduled shift (8–12 hours). Must be able to frequently bend, reach, crouch, or stoop.
• Weight requirements: ability to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally from floor to waist and waist to shoulder.
• Manual dexterity: constant repetitive grasping and fine motor manipulation of paper materials and machine components.
• Range of motion: frequent twisting of the torso and lifting above shoulder height.
• Sensory/vision: must possess tactile sensitivity in hands and digits; near and far visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for quality control and safe machine operation.
• Work environment: ability to perform these functions in a manufacturing environment that may include high noise levels, varying temperatures, and paper dust.
