Job summary

Meirowitz & Wasserberg, LLP is seeking a Settlement Coordinator to join our Finance team in New York. You will manage distributions of settlement funds to clients and related parties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with agreements.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in legal settlements, and able to communicate complex processes clearly to clients and colleagues. Salary ranges from $65,000 to $85,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Familiarity with settlement processes, client disbursements, and legal compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex processes to clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the distribution of settlement funds to clients and other involved parties.
• Review settlement agreements and confirm accurate disbursement amounts based on client agreements.
• Maintain detailed records of all disbursements and ensure they are properly documented in the firm’s system.
• Communicate with clients to ensure they understand the disbursement process and provide updates as needed.
• Collaborate with the settlement team and attorneys to obtain required signatures, releases, and other necessary documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, financial, and ethical standards during the disbursement process.
• Assist with creating and managing disbursement journals and other related records.
• Troubleshoot any issues related to the distribution of settlement funds.
