Job summary

WLS Companies in Ohio seeks a Press Operator to set up and run single-hit punch presses, producing parts according to customer specifications. You will assemble nests and dies, adjust clamps, align layouts, and inspect first pieces on first shift.

Proficiency with calipers and micrometers, the ability to read blueprints, and experience with ¼" sheet metal are required. You will collaborate with QC to meet targets while adhering to safety policies. 1st shift: 6am–2:30pm onsite.

• Able to read blueprints and part routers.
• Proficient with calipers and micrometers.
• Experience with ¼" sheet metal thickness.
• Knowledge of die alignment and securing.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate single-hit punch presses to produce parts per specs.
• Assemble nests and dies for various single-hit operations.

• Measure workpieces to ensure quality and repeatability.
• Observe tool/machine operation for defects or malfunctions.
• Inspect first-piece quality and report readiness to start production.

Description

Set up and operate single hit punch presses to produce parts according to customer specifications. Will perform other duties as required, including press operation.

• Assemble nests and dies to perform various single hit operations including float pierce, cushion pierce, semi blank, temp blank and various compounds using hand tools
• Set and adjust clamps and stops
• Position workpiece against backstop or manually align layout marks
• Measure workpiece dimensions throughout to ensure quality and repeatability
• Observe tool and machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
• Visual inspection of first piece
• Issue job and safely check in Press Operator once set up is complete
• Collaborate quality control personnel and other team members to meet production targets and address any issues or concerns.
• Follow all company safety and operations policies

Requirements

• Proven experience at setting up single hit punch presses
• Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
• Experience working with ¼” thickness and thinner sheet metal
• Ability to read blueprints and part routers
• Identify metal material types and gauge thickness
• Knowledge of how to select position and align dies in machine and confirm that they are properly secured.
