Job summary

Trojan Battery Company in Los Angeles, CA is looking for a Set-Up Operator who will manage setup and change-overs, ensure all records are input, and support Lean 5S and housekeeping at the station.

You will coordinate with mechanics, assist training of new employees, follow safety requirements and quality policies, operate equipment (Intercell Welder, Shear, Post Welder, Air Testers), and maintain logs and preventive maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment in a leadership role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word and related programs.
• Forklift Driver Certified.
• Read and interpret safety and maintenance documents; good writing and communication.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety requirements and proper use of PPE.
• Understand and practice the Quality policy and lean 5S.
• Perform all set up and change-over.
• Be familiar with setup on equipment: Intercell Welder, Shear/Tester, Hydroseal, Post Welder, Air Testers.
• Maintain logs and records; input setup operator records and documentation.

Areas of Focus

Set-Up Operator focuses on following up with mechanics to assure all set-up operator records are inputted and completes required documentation in Maintenance.

Set-up Operator coordinates, assists training of new employees.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety requirements and proper use of PPE
• Understand & practice the Quality policy
• Perform all set up and change-over
• Must be familiar with set up on all equipment: Intercell Welder (Front/Mid/Back) Shear/Short Tester (Front/Mid/Back) Hydroseal (2 head & 3 head) (Front/Mid/Back) Post Welder (Back Line) Air Testers (Front/Mid/Back)
• Material Staging
• First article processing through the Burst Test
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
• Maintain Logs and Records
• Understand Work instructions and know where they are posted
• Follow and maintain Lean activities (5S, housekeeping, hygiene, etc)
• Be at work station on time
• Leave work station on time, unless otherwise instructed by your Team Lead/supervisor

Safety Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Comply with Blood Lead health and Hygiene Protocols
• Understand and comply with correct lifting procedures which enable lifting up to 50 lbs
• Comply with Hazard communication procedures
• Must follow all Ergonomic recommendations and safety procedures

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment in a leadership role
• Proficient in Microsoft software products (Excel and Word) and any department specific computer programs
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manualsGood writing and communication skills
• Forklift Driver Certified
• Knowledge of Hand Tools
• Basic computer skills
• Forklift certified

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years as an Assembly Operator
