POSITION SUMMARY

The Authority is currently recruiting part-time Set-Up Attendants for its Atlanta campus primarily responsible for public and private event conversion. Set-Up Attendants perform a full range of physical and labor-intensive duties across The Authority campus. Ideal candidates will have knowledge and experience in safely handling and/or transporting tables, chairs, and specialized event equipment to consistently deliver compelling guest experiences.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately exposed to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The ability to lift 50 pounds or more is required of the position. Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read and interpret floorplans, diagrams, and layouts to ensure event set-up and arrangements meet client requirements.
  • Set up, maintain, disassemble and break down supplies and materials including but not limited to: chairs, tables, pipes, drapes, barricades, staging, linen, and other furnishing and equipment.
  • Return and properly store supplies, materials, furnishings, and equipment after installation to designated areas.
  • Fulfill internal and external change requests to event set up to support event operations.
  • Safely use industrial equipment such as pallet jacks, material handling carts, vans, lifts, and dollies to transport items to and from storage areas to event locations. Push equipment carts, air wall panels and staging units, and other equipment as required.
  • Store furnishings and equipment neatly and in an accessible manner in pre-designated areas.
  • Properly pack and handle equipment inventory to protect against damage and deterioration.
  • Maintain tools as issued by The Authority. Report irregularities, discrepancies, safety, fire hazards, and damage concerns, and the loss of property promptly to Facility Manager or Director of Facility Operations.Tag assets based on condition and assist in repairing as needed.
  • Retrieve and deliver items to and from designated areas. Ensure all designated areas are kept clean, orderly, and organized according to standard operating procedures.
  • Actively participate in The Authority training programs as required.
  • Accurately document and complete administrative paperwork.
  • Maintain an ethical and professional image when interacting with internal and external customers in to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform various duties to ensure that the day-to-day operations of an event are met. May occasionally load and unload delivery trucks, dispose of trash and debris properly, and replenish supplies as needed according to dock policies and procedures.
  • Comply with The Authority policies and procedures associated with such programs as risk management, safety, and emergency management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform intensive labor assignments and job responsibilities
  • Ability to handle up to 50lbs or more
  • Ability to work an irregular work schedule including weekends, holidays, and nights as required to perform duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively, prioritize tasks, and manage workload under pressure and with limited resources
  • Ability to complete installation of event set up duties according to standard operating procedures
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must observe safe work methods and make appropriate use of related safety equipment
  • High degree of integrity, compliance, and self-awareness
  • Thoroughness in task approach, follow-up & completion
  • Relational skills
  • Ability to professionally interact with internal and external customers of The Authority
  • Convention center industry knowledge a plus

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum High School Education, GED, or equivalent training enabling the successful demonstration of the skills listed above.
  • Experience in providing customer service directly to customers is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience setting up, breaking down, or working in a multi-purpose facility, hotel or related operation is a plus but not required.
