Job description

DirectViz Solutions (DVS) is a dynamic and rapidly growing government contractor committed to delivering innovative IT solutions that address the mission-critical needs of our government clients. Through the expertise and dedication of our talented team, we provide cutting-edge technology services designed to achieve success and exceed expectations.

At DVS, we prioritize our employees as our greatest asset. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive medical benefits, a 401(k) match, generous PTO accrual, professional development reimbursement, corporate-funded technology certifications, and robust employee recognition and appreciation programs.

We are seeking a highly skilled ServiceNow Architect. The ability to obtain a public trust clearance is required. Candidates located in the DC metro region are highly preferred.

The ServiceNow Architect provides technical and architectural leadership for the design, implementation, modernization, integration, and optimization of the ServiceNow platform. This role is responsible for defining the overall ServiceNow technical architecture and ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, supportable, upgradeable, and aligned with ServiceNow leading practices. The Architect serves as a senior technical advisor to program leadership, customers, product owners, developers, administrators, business analysts, and other technical teams. The Senior ServiceNow Architect will play a key role in accelerating the organization's migration from legacy applications to ServiceNow, maximizing out-of-the-box capabilities, reducing unnecessary customization, improving development velocity, and expanding the use of automation, AI, and low-code/no-code capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
ServiceNow Architecture & Technical Strategy
  • Define and maintain the overall ServiceNow platform architecture and technical roadmap.
  • Establish architectural standards, design patterns, development standards, and platform guardrails.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into scalable ServiceNow solutions.
  • Ensure ServiceNow solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, data, integration, and infrastructure standards.
  • Evaluate proposed solutions and determine whether requirements should be addressed through configuration, low-code/no-code development, custom development, integration, or existing ServiceNow capabilities.
  • Promote an out-of-the-box/configuration-first approach and minimize unnecessary platform customization.
  • Ensure solutions remain maintainable and upgradeable as the ServiceNow platform evolves.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate and retire legacy applications by moving appropriate business processes to ServiceNow.
Solution Design & Development Oversight
  • Lead technical solution design for new ServiceNow applications, enhancements, integrations, and platform capabilities.
  • Provide architectural oversight throughout the full development lifecycle.
  • Review solution designs, technical specifications, data models, workflows, scripts, integrations, and application configurations.
  • Conduct technical and architectural reviews before solutions move into production.
  • Provide guidance to ServiceNow developers and administrators on complex technical challenges.
  • Establish reusable components, patterns, and frameworks that accelerate development.
  • Ensure technical debt is identified, documented, prioritized, and appropriately remediated.
  • Balance rapid delivery with platform stability, security, maintainability, and long-term sustainability.

  • Develop architecture patterns for responsible and scalable adoption of ServiceNow AI capabilities.
  • Evaluate business processes for automation and workflow optimization opportunities.
  • Promote low-code/no-code development where appropriate to accelerate delivery.
  • Ensure AI and automation solutions comply with organizational security, privacy, data-governance, and responsible-AI requirements.
  • Partner with business and technical leaders to establish an AI-enabled ServiceNow modernization roadmap.

  • Review proposed customizations and recommend out-of-the-box alternatives when appropriate.
  • Define release-management, update-set/application-repository, source-control, and deployment standards.
  • Establish technical quality gates throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Mentor ServiceNow developers, administrators, technical leads, and junior architects.
  • Provide technical direction without becoming a bottleneck to development teams.
  • Facilitate technical design workshops and architecture sessions.
