Job summary

Midas of Seaside and Salinas is seeking a Service Writer/Automotive Technician for a full‑service shop in California. The role combines customer service with hands‑on repair work and offers a store‑level management development path.

The candidate should have at least 1 year of shop experience, strong communication skills, and a valid driver’s license. The position includes opportunities for advancement and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of general automotive technician shop experience.
• Excellent customer service disposition.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service while listening and consulting customers.
• Follow up with customers, services requested, estimated completion times etc.
• Oversee complete vehicle inspections and then make comprehensive recommendations—building computerized repair orders and sourcing parts.
• Deliver and discuss pricing estimates with customers as well as promoting shop service specials.
• Lead, manage, and train team while keeping in tune with our companies’ vision, purpose, core values, and employee creed.
• Supervise up to ten employees.
• Oversee technicians’ inspections, diagnosing and repairing of domestic, European and Asian cars and light trucks.
• Perform oil changes, vehicle inspections, tire repairs and replacements, brake jobs, starting and charging repairs, engine repair and maintenance, steering and suspension work, diagnostic work, auto air conditioning.
• Overall cleanliness and organization of the facility.
• Other duties as assigned
