Job summary

The Larson Group Peterbilt is seeking an experienced Service Writer to join our team in Illinois. You will greet and consult service customers about their problems and help coordinate the service department and warranty processes.

Responsibilities include opening/closing work orders, tracking technician time, answering calls, scheduling appointments, and assisting with warranty paperwork. Safety-sensitive position with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; college degree or trade certificate preferred.
• Experience in dealership service shop environment preferred but not required.
• Safety-sensitive position.

• Record, adjust and report technicians' time for work orders and payroll.
• Answer phones for the Service Department and assist customers.
• Resolve customer complaints and schedule appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with diagnosis and repairs.
• Assist with warranty repair paperwork flow.
• Check in new trucks and complete proper forms.
• Coordinate parts and sublet repairs with the parts department.
• Instruct night shift writer on special instructions.
• Keep Service Manager informed of customer issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This person will assist in the coordination and communications of the service department as well as perform a variety of tasks with the warranty department.

Responsibilities:

• Open and close work orders providing as much information as possible.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics time for work orders and payroll.
• Help cover phone calls for the Service Department.
• Try to resolve customer complaints.
• Schedule appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with the diagnosis and repairs of their jobs.
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow.
• Check in new trucks delivered to the shop and complete the proper forms.
• Consult with the parts department on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct the following shift's service writer on any special instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of all customer complaints and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Should possess a High School Diploma.
• A College degree or a certificate from a trade school is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in dealership service shop environment is strongly preferred but not required.

Pay Range

The actual pay rate will depend on the person's qualifications and experience.

$25.00 - $35.00 / hour
