Job summary

Ardagh Metal Packaging is hiring a Service Technician to support new custom machine builds, installations and repairs of high-speed automation equipment at the Ardagh Technical Center and customer sites.

You will follow engineering drawings to assemble, disassemble and overhaul equipment, perform inspections, and suggest process improvements. A 50% travel requirement and varying shifts are part of the role, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of mechanical assembly or machinist experience.
• Willing to travel up to 50%.
• Must pass a Mechanical Aptitude test.
• Overtime and travel as necessary including weekends and various shift hours.
• Welding skills a plus but not required.
• Operate a lathe or milling machine a plus but not required.
• Lift up to 75 lbs and stay agile to stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach and pull.

Responsibilities

• Support new custom machine builds, installations, troubleshooting, overhauls and repairs of high-speed automation equipment.
• Work at Ardagh Technical Center and support eight Ardagh Metal sites.
• Follow drawings to build and overhaul equipment and sub-assemblies.
• Disassemble systems, evaluate wear, and reassemble with new or reconditioned parts.
• Assemble small machine subassemblies to support spare parts.
• Use hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical drawings for building and service.
• Perform inspections using precision measuring tools throughout build and rebuild.
• Recommend process improvements for equipment design and assembly.
• Safely operate forklifts, overhead crane and hand tools as required.
• Work in a team environment with day and night shifts per production needs.

Role Description

The Service Technician will support new custom machine builds, Installations, troubleshooting, overhauls, audits and repair of high-speed automation equipment in house or at customer site.

Key Responsibilities

• Working out of our Ardagh Technical Center (ATC) and supporting eight Ardagh Metal Beverage Sites.
• Follow engineering drawings and specifications to build and overhaul high speed automation equipment, and sub-assemblies.
• Disassemble existing systems, evaluate the condition for wear and damage, reassembly using new or reconditioned parts.
• Assemble small machine subassemblies to support spare part program.
• Utilize hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical drawings to build and to perform required service.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures and quality standards.
• Use precision measuring and gauging tools to perform required inspection before, during, and after machine build/ re-build.
• Recommend process improvements for equipment design and assembly processes.
• Safely operate forklifts, overhead crane and hand power tools during machine build or overhauls.
• Ability to work in a team environment during day and nights shift based on production schedule requirements.

The starting hourly base rate for this role goes up to $46.71dependent on years of service within the company. The company also offer a Success Share Bonus that is dependent upon meeting metrics and targets. Please note that the range for the rate provided is a good faith estimate and is only applicable for roles that are based out of Illinois. The final rate will be determined after considering relevant factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and work location, where appropriate.
