Job summary

Haumiller Engineering is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Test Technician / Service Technician to install, test, and service custom automation machinery. You will travel up to 30% domestically and internationally, supporting customer testing and field service from our South Elgin, IL facility with flexibility to work in Belvidere, IL.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of machine building, testing, and debugging experience, with prior field service to diagnose and resolve machine failures.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a service technician with lead machine builder experience.
• Associate’s degree or certificate from college or technical school or equivalent experience.
• PLC and Electrical fundamentals; read ladder logic and basic editing.
• Ability to read detailed 3D drawings and electrical/pneumatic schematics.
• Experience with basic hand tools and measuring equipment (calipers, micrometer, gauges).

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and warranty work on machinery with direct customer contact.
• Provide technical support to engineering and manufacturing for upgrades and configurations.
• Test product samples to determine equipment compatibility and configuration.
• Perform final quality and performance testing of machinery.
• Assist during machinery acceptance visits with customers.
• Check electrical and mechanical functions and analyze part control per specifications.
• Flex to work at South Elgin or Belvidere locations.

Manufacturing Test Technician / Service Technician

Haumiller Engineering has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Test Technician / Service Technician to join our growing team. This role is responsible for final assembly, testing/debugging, field installation and service of custom automation machinery. You will also participate in customer product testing, demonstrations, technician education, and final quality control inspection of machinery prior to shipment. You will need to have the ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally. This position is based in our South Elgin, IL facility with flexibility to work in our Belvidere, IL facility.

Our ideal candidate will have 3+ years of machine building, testing and debugging experience. Previous experience troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving machine failures in the field is required.

Salary: $32.00 - $40.00 Hourly

What You Will Do

• Perform machinery installations, service, and warranty claims through direct customer and representative contact
• Provides technical support to engineering and manufacturing for machinery upgrades and configurations including written documentation of field corrections and problems for their use.
• Performs the testing of product samples supplied by the customer for the purpose of determining equipment compatibility and configuration.
• Performs the final quality and performance testing of machinery.
• You will be involved in customer contact and assistance during machinery acceptance visits
• Perform a series of checks (electrical and mechanical), analyze part control, machine functions, and operations per specifications
• Flexibility to work in our South Elgin, IL or Belvidere, IL locations

What You Will Bring

• 3+ years as a service technician with experience as lead machine builder for automated machinery
• Associate’s degree or certificate from college or technical school or equivalent experience
• PLC, Electrical (understands AC/DC Fundamentals, ability to read ladder logic and basic editing skills)
• Must know how to read detailed 3D drawings, electrical and pneumatic schematics
• Basic use of machine shop equipment (drill press, grinder, mill and lathe technology)
• PLC experience a plus (ability to read ladder logic and basic editing skills)
• Previous experience using basic hand tools and measuring equipment (calipers, micrometer, scales and gauges)
