Job description

The company operates within the material handling and warehouse equipment maintenance sector and is recognised for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of forklift fleets and associated industrial equipment. They have an exciting opportunity for a Forklift Mechanic to join their team. This position is well‑suited to a proactive and hands‑on individual who is looking to develop their technical expertise while contributing to the smooth and continuous operation of warehouse logistics.

This position is based within the Maintenance and Service department and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor/Service Manager. You will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on electric and internal combustion forklifts, as well as other material handling equipment. You will support all equipment servicing activities on site, ensure machinery is safe and operational before use, and help reduce downtime by identifying and resolving faults efficiently while maintaining a professional and safety‑focused approach in a fast‑paced warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance on electric, propane, and diesel forklifts.
• Diagnose and repair electrical forklift systems, including motors, controllers, contactors, wiring, and battery chargers.
• Maintain industrial batteries, charging systems, and related electrical components.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems such as pumps, cylinders, and valves.
• Repair mechanical systems including brakes, steering, and mast assemblies.
• Use OEM diagnostic software, wiring diagrams, and service manuals to identify and resolve faults.
• Complete accurate work orders and maintain parts inventory and records.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and manufacturer safety standards.
• Maintain clean, organized service areas in line with 5S workplace practices.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• 2‑4 years of experience in forklift or material handling equipment repair.
• Strong experience in electrical troubleshooting and battery maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Must have own set of hand tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in warehouse and industrial environments.
