Job Title: Service Technician

Department: Environmental Services

Entity: Pennsylvania Hospital, 800 Spruce Street

Hours/Shift: Full time, evening shift

Summary:Are you passionate about creating a clean and safe environment for patients and staff? As an Environmental Services Technician at Penn Medicine, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across our hospital. Your work will ensure that patient rooms, offices, treatment areas, and public spaces are spotless and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thorough Cleaning:Use hospital-approved germicidal detergents to clean and disinfect assigned areas, including patient rooms, offices, and public spaces.
  • Floor Care:Sweep, dust, mop, buff, scrub, and strip floors to keep them in pristine condition.
  • Detail Work:Wash walls, light fixtures, sills, banisters, baseboards, doors, and elevators. Polish brass and stainless steel as needed.
  • Maintenance Reporting:Report any malfunctions in mechanical equipment or damage to walls, doors, or furniture to your supervisor.
  • Interpersonal Skills:Interact effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital staff, showing courtesy, compassion, sensitivity, and respect.
  • Furniture Management:Move furniture as needed and push or pull loaded or empty carts.
  • Trash Disposal:Collect and dispose of trash, and clean and disinfect trash receptacles.
  • Furniture Care:Damp dust furniture, apply stain-type polish, and hand buff furniture. Arrange furniture as required.
  • Bed Preparation:Clean and make up unoccupied beds as necessary.
  • Bathroom Cleaning:Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including sinks, bathtubs, showers, toilets, and bathroom tiles. Polish chrome fixtures and replace supplies like soap, towels, and toilet tissue.
  • Isolation Room Cleaning:Clean and disinfect isolation rooms, including ceilings, lights, walls, floors, furniture, and entire bathrooms. Collect isolation linen and trash.
  • Equipment Maintenance:Keep janitorial equipment and closets clean and well-maintained.
  • Flexible Scheduling:Be prepared to work varying shifts as needed.
  • Professional Conduct:Use effective interpersonal skills in all interactions and perform duties consistent with the care philosophy of Pennsylvania Hospital.

Qualifications:

  • Education:High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:0-1 years of relevant experience.
