Job summary

John Jones Auto Group in Scottsburg, IN is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Technician to join our growing Service Department. You will diagnose and repair vehicles across brakes, engine, transmission, and electrical systems, using dealership tools in a fully heated and air-conditioned shop.

Qualifications

• Automotive technician experience required (dealership experience preferred).
• ASE certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in a shop environment.
• Familiarity with dealership systems, diagnostic tools, and repair equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical issues.
• Complete repairs and maintenance including brakes, suspension, engine, transmission, heating/AC, electrical systems, and drivability concerns.
• Conduct multi-point inspections and document findings clearly.
• Perform manufacturer-recommended services and warranty repairs; communicate with Service Advisors about needs, parts, and timelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow safety protocols, dealership procedures, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Test-drive vehicles to confirm repairs.
• Stay current on training, certifications, and new automotive technologies.
