JX Enterprises, Inc. in Clare, MI is hiring a Service Technician/Diesel Mechanic to keep our customers' fleets moving. Shift options: Mon–Fri Noon–8:30pm or 2:00pm–10:00pm, with a 15% premium for weekend or late-hour work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Entry level: some experience in automotive repair or heavy-duty truck maintenance required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn required.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred, or ability to obtain.
  • Dependable and reliable attendance required.
  • For experienced level, diesel-focused program and 2+ years of maintenance/repair of commercial trucks, including engine diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles and perform diagnostics to determine maintenance needs.
  • Test engines, safety, and combustion standards to comply with regulations.
  • Repair and replace major components and assemblies as needed.
  • Evaluate service and parts options to manage costs.
  • Perform winterization and corrosion control to extend vehicle life.
  • Maintain vehicle records of services and repairs.
  • Stay updated on federal and state vehicle requirements.
  • Follow safety protocols to protect staff and customers.
  • Collaborate with team to deliver positive customer experiences.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Your Next Big Career Move: Service Technician/Diesel Mechanic located in Clare, MI
Shift: Monday - Friday Noon to 8:30pm or Monday - Friday 2:00pm to 10:00pm
Shift Premium: Any work performed/hours worked Monday - Friday, 5:00 pm - 5:59 am and/or any hours worked on weekends (Saturday/Sunday) will be paid a shift differential of 15% of your base wage.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day (Essential Duties & Responsibilities):
  • Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests to ensure accurate assessments of maintenance needs.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards, adhering to regulatory obligations.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, or parts, showcasing innovative problem-solving skills and techniques.
  • Evaluates service and parts options to contain costs, demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness in finding effective solutions.
  • Controls corrosion and completes winterization procedures to prolong the lifespan of vehicles and ensure responsible use of resources.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs, facilitating transparency and accountability in customer interactions.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by staying updated on regulations and standards through ongoing education and training.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, ensuring the safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, and customers.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and leadership to continuously cultivate positive experiences for our customers.
  • Perform other dynamic duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business
Medical Safety Compliance:

Must successfully pass a baseline medical evaluation and a respiratory fit test (per OSHA standards) to ensure safe use of PPE, and maintain safety-compliance guidelines during daily operations.

Physical and Mental Demands:

The employee is frequently required to bend, squat, kneel, and crawl/lay on back; reach away from body or shoulder height; climb or balance; lift up to 75 pounds; push or pull; working in areas with fumes or airborne particles; vibration.
