Job summary

American Chiller Service, Inc. is seeking a field HVAC commercial chiller technician with strong chiller water system experience to service a 100 mile radius around Northern California.

The role requires maintaining central plant equipment, including large chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and controls, and offers an on-call rotation for emergencies. Experience with centrifugal and screw chillers, rigging, and commissioning is valued.

Qualifications

• 5 years journeyman level HVAC experience with technical schooling.
• Commercial/industrial air conditioning experience required.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification (or ability to obtain).
• Able to respond to emergency service calls on a rotating on-call schedule.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair chillers 100 tons and larger, cooling towers, pumps, and controls.
• Overhaul centrifugal chillers when needed and assist with commissioning.
• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance and site testing.
• Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for central plant equipment.

American Chiller Service, Inc. (ACS) was formed in 1988 and now a subsidiary of Ambient Enterprises. We are a large tonnage commercial air conditioning service company specializing in Turbocor, centrifugal, absorption, screw, and reciprocating chillers. We offer chiller and cooling tower service, maintenance, retrofit, rental, and new equipment installations.We’re hiring a field HVAC commercial chiller technician with strong chiller water system experience to service a 100 mile radius.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONIBILITIESMaintain and repair central plant equipment, including chillers 100 tons and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and other auxiliary equipment.Overhaul of centrifugal chillers a plus.Familiar with all aspects of rigging.Support the office with recommended repairs from delivery to completion.Availability for emergency service calls “on-call” through normal rotation.Responsible for end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups, and commissioning.Schedule and manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties for chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.Perform daily and monthly preventative maintenance on all associated equipment of chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.Ensure completion of maintenance within the scheduled month and allocated time.Maintaining positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workersProvide technical support and troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all on-site equipment.Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.QUALIFICATIONS5 years of work experience at the journeyman level and technical schooling.Commercial/Industrial air conditioning experience required.Knowledge of Chiller, HVAC, and Central Plants.HVAC large tonnage field knowledge is required.Must be available for emergency service calls “on call” through normal rotation.Effective oral and written communication skills.Chillers / Refrigeration: Centrifugal Chillers, Screw Chillers, Magnetic Bearing, Oil-Free Chillers, Industrial Refrigeration, Central Plants, Chilled Water SystemsLICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSValid California LicenseActive EPA Universal Technician CertificationAdditional qualifications / application items:OSHA 10 Construction – field technician rolesOSHA 30 Construction – project management and supervisory rolesUpload option for industry certifications, licenses, and trade school documentationCOMPENSATION$50-$90 /hr DOE , We offer excellent health benefits, a 401(k) Plan, Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays and flexible scheduling.Five branches located in Northern California and Nevada: Rancho Cordova, San Leandro, Petaluma, Modesto, and Reno.Ambient is a collective of HVAC design and implementation experts, each entity esteemed in their respective regions, with decades of experience.
