About Us

Bob Brown Chevrolet, headquartered in Urbandale, Iowa, is seeking Skilled Service Technicians to join our team. We are a third-generation family-owned and operated dealership with over 63 years in the automotive industry. We pride ourselves on high employee retention and a great work environment. Our upgraded service department features a Climate Controlled Shop, In-ground Lifts, and 20,000-pound lifts, enabling us to work on medium-duty trucks and RVs, and service nearly all vehicle types.

We are looking for Service Technicians with a strong background and ASE certifications. Daily duties include performing repairs and diagnosing vehicle issues. We offer relocation assistance for the right candidates. Des Moines offers a vibrant community with events like the Downtown Farmer's Market and the Iowa State Fair, excellent schools, a booming economy, affordable housing, and a friendly, safe environment.

Compensation
  • Flat rate hourly pay based on experience, training, and proficiency.
  • Participation in the GM Tech Excellence Bonus Program, with potential earnings of up to $12,000 annually and GM rewards points valued at an additional $2,500.

Job Requirements
  • Perform repairs efficiently per dealership policies.
  • Inspect and test-drive vehicles for safety and performance.
  • Complete warranty repairs per manufacturer specs.
  • Communicate with Service Advisors and customers about additional repairs and estimates.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems and components.
  • Complete factory and dealership training.
  • Install equipment as needed.
  • Mentor junior technicians when required.
  • Use shop supplies economically and maintain a clean workspace.
  • Report safety or operational concerns to management.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; ASE Certification required, with B-level qualifications including Diagnostic, Electrical, and Engine Repair.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of Service Technician experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; ASE Certification required.
  • Proficiency in Diagnostic, Electrical, and Engine Repair (B level).
  • Steady hands, excellent hand-eye coordination, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic equipment and provide excellent customer service.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record; must be 18+ years old.
