Job Overview

The Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating and/or Centac and ECC air compressors, along with additional compressed air system components. You will use precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting of compressed air equipment and must have knowledge of all operations and parts manuals associated with all equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on compressed air equipment and address existing and unanticipated equipment concerns through customer interaction.
• Collaborate with the Service Coordinator to order and gather parts and supplies necessary for installations and repairs.
• Assist and train apprentices and Field Service Technicians.
• Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers.
• Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning, start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed air systems, ensuring equipment operates to customer requirements with minimal guidance.
• Increase Ingersoll Rand customers’ awareness of how Ingersoll Rand products, services, and solutions—such as Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, and Leak Detection—can benefit their operations.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
• Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations, including no DUI or similar offenses in the previous 5 years and no recent violations in the previous 3 years.
• Availability for on‑call duties after an initial 90‑day period; on‑call weeks may occur every 4 weeks or more frequently as determined by the hiring manager.
• High‑school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift and move weight limits in accordance with safety policy; physically capable of using hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling regularly.

Core Competencies

• Read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
• Advanced network systems installation (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
• Basic vibration troubleshooting.
• Basic air quality (compressor/dryer – air treatment).
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and other basic computer usage; working proficiency with handheld computers (e.g., smartphone, iPad) and network basics.
• Maintain cost‑efficient travel practices.

Preferences

• Industrial air compressor maintenance and knowledge.
• EPA certification.
• Veterans/Active‑Duty Military encouraged to apply.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

• Daily travel within a 3‑hour radius of the service area.
• A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.

Pay Range

Starting pay will range between $25.00 – $35.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full‑time, hourly position.
