Job summary

AquaWorx, the leading filtration systems manufacturer in St. Petersburg, FL, seeks a skilled field service technician to diagnose and repair pumps, motors, and related equipment on-site for commercial and recreational pools.

You will read blueprints, use precision tools, and communicate repair options and timelines to customers while maintaining stock in the company vehicle and performing installations per manufacturer specs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, sleeves, seals, valves, and related mechanical components.
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues (pumps, filters, timers, etc.).
• Use hand tools and perform repairs as needed.
• Document inspections, repairs, measurements, and completed work.
• Perform shaft alignment using dial indicators, laser alignment tools, and other precision instruments.
• Troubleshoot circulation, priming, suction, pressure, filtration, plumbing, electrical issues.

Job description

What started as a desire to solve the safety issues facing the pool and spa industry, has turned into the largest, packaged filtration manufacturer for both the recreational and commercial aquatics industries. The passing of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act led to the development of our revolutionary collector tanks. Our industry knowledge allowed AquaWorx to expand to the manufacture of state-of-the-art filtration systems and immaculate water features.

Responsibilities

• Ability to work with minimal supervision while using their own technical judgment regarding complex tasks
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues (pumps, filters, timers, etc.)
• Use hand tools and perform repairs as needed
• Restock and manage pool supplies on truck from supplier
• Knowledge of disassemble, inspect, diagnose, repair, and reassemble industrial pumps and rotating equipment
• Diagnoses, and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, sleeves, seals, valves, and related mechanical components
• Install, level, align, and test pumps, motors, and other rotating equipment according to manufacturer specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, technical drawings, and repair specifications
• Use multimeter, micrometer, caliper, feeler gauge, dial indicator, and other precision measuring tools
• Document inspections, repairs, measurements, and completed work
• Repair and rebuild pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, sleeves, seals, valves, and related mechanical components
• Perform shaft alignment using dial indicators, laser alignment tools, and other precision instruments
• Repairing and installing single and variable-speed pumps, filters, heaters, heat pumps, salt systems, automation systems, timers, valves, actuators, cleaners, chlorinators, transformers, and related equipment
• Troubleshooting circulation, priming, suction, pressure, filtration, plumbing, electrical, and equipment performance issues
• Performing PVC plumbing repairs, valve replacements, equipment pad repairs, and equipment installations
• Troubleshooting single phase and multiple phase electrical systems safely and within company procedures and licensing requirements
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked company work vehicle
• Assist with emergency repairs or field service assignments when required
• Communicating professionally with customers regarding findings, repair options, timelines, and completed work
• Service DE pits, salt systems, heaters, and automation systems a plus
• Experience servicing Pentair & Jandy pumps a plus
• Ability to work extended hours (Monday to Friday) a plus
• Ability to travel a plus

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of electrical & plumbing preferred
• Commercial Pool filtration experience preferred, CPO license a plus
• Driver’s License in good standing
• Excellent communication; verbal and written
• Ability to read technical drawings
• Physical Stamina: ability to lift 50+ lbs., work outdoors in FL weather
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Willingness to work non-typical hours on occasion including overtime when required
• Excellent time management & attention to detail
