Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an on-site field service technician based in Raleigh, NC. The role involves traveling within roughly a two-hour radius to service vaults, safes, lock mechanisms, and gate systems, with a focus on mechanical troubleshooting and fabrication.

Independent work and strong documentation are essential for success. The position includes a low on-call burden and a company vehicle, gas card, laptop and tools.

Qualifications

• Vaults, safe systems, locksmithing and access control are required.
• Experience with CCTV, alarm systems and DMP is preferred.
• Familiarity with Bosch devices and Paycom is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls across roughly a 2-hour radius around Raleigh, NC.
• Work on vaults, safes, lock mechanisms and gate systems.
• Perform mechanical troubleshooting and fabrication as needed.
• Travel site-to-site and work independently with minimal oversight.
• Maintain accurate service notes to support billing.

Must-Have Technical Traits Mechanical Aptitude On call rotation, driving/field role (2hrs all direction from Raleigh)

Their belief: Mechanical skills can transfer very well into banking security work.

Troubleshooting Ability

The technician will primarily be dispatched when:

• Something is broken
• A customer problem exists
• Immediate diagnosis is needed

This is not a pure installation/project role.

Service Mindset

They want someone comfortable:

• Working independently
• Driving site-to-site
• Walking into customer issues
• Solving problems without constant oversight

Day-to-Day Work Territory

Home-based position

Covers roughly a 2-hour radius around Raleigh

Daily Workload Expected

• Approximately 4 service calls per day
• Top performers: 5-6 calls/day
• Poor productivity: 1-2 calls/day

Travel Overnight Travel

Very limited. Estimated:

• About 10%

Typicaly:

• Drive home same day
• Overnight stay only when practical

On-Call Rotation

• Roughly once per month

Call Volume Extremely low. Michael stated: Since January he could count on one hand how many times someone was actually called out.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58000.00 - $73000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Portal-to-portal pay technicians are paid from the time they leave home until they return home, which can create some overtime through drive time.
