Job summary

A leading equipment distribution company based in Texas is seeking an organized and dependable Service Technician. The position involves maintenance, repair, calibration, and installation of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) equipment. Candidates must possess a high school diploma and be willing to travel with a valid Driver's License. Training is available for individuals with relevant experience. The role emphasizes technical support and customer service, ensuring compliance with safety standards and efficient scheduling of service calls.

Qualifications

  • Willing to travel, sometimes overnight or on short notice. Valid Driver's License and clear driving record are required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair to component level and install a wide range of NDT equipment.
  • Perform periodic maintenance of NDT equipment.
  • Communicate with customers to schedule service calls for repair and maintenance.
  • Provide technical support to customers for troubleshooting.
  • Advise customers if equipment is not compliant with safety standards.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure product repairs are satisfactory and service call was performed to expectations.
  • Participate with planning equipment layout/facilities requirements for installation of equipment.
  • Advise customers if equipment is not in compliance with current safety standards.
  • Partner with sales department to determine what replacement equipment will satisfy customer needs when equipment has reached end of life and needs to be replaced.
  • Train customer personnel on safe and proper operation of equipment.
  • Train customer personnel to perform any maintenance that needs to be done by operators.
  • Work with Service Manager to schedule workload efficiently to minimize customer inconvenience and maximize productivity.
  • Maintain in-house repair of NDT equipment
  • Maintain accurate inventory and supplies for assigned warehouses.
  • Responsible for maintaining valid calibration dates on diagnostic tools, meters, and equipment.
  • Follow all safety practices appropriate for jobs being performed.
  • Look for opportunities while on job sites that could benefit customers and the company.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and work area at the customer site and at warehouse locations.
  • Be on time, reliable and professional while maintaining QED's core values.
  • Willing to travel, sometimes overnight or on short notice. Valid Driver's License and clear driving record are required, as local deliveries/pickups may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Overview

QED is seeking an organized, energetic and dependable individual to join our team. The Service Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, calibration, and installation of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and related equipment at customer locations or in-house. Knowledge of NDT equipment is a plus.

WILL TRAIN individuals who have experience or an educational background in one or more of the following:

  • Reading and interpreting wiring schematics
  • Understanding electronics circuitry
  • Electronics repair
Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Troubleshoot, repair to component level (if needed), and install a wide range of NDT equipment from multiple manufacturers.
  • Perform periodic maintenance of NDT equipment.
  • Communicate with customer(s) to schedule service call(s) for both repair and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support to customers when they are attempting to troubleshoot/repair their own equipment.
  • Provide support to Service Manager when needed.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure product repairs are satisfactory and service call was performed to expectations.
  • Participate with planning equipment layout/facilities requirements for installation of equipment.
