Job summary

Rock Region METRO in North Little Rock, AR, is seeking a Service Technician to perform daily servicing and cleaning of all METRO vehicles and equipment. You will drive, relocate, and park vehicles, and maintain a safe, efficient work area while following METRO policies and federal/state regulations.

The role requires a valid driver's license, ability to obtain Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement, and a commitment to occasional evening shifts. Starting pay is $20.28 per hour.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement.
  • DOT medical and drug test background checks and screening.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily servicing and cleaning of METRO vehicles and equipment.
  • Operate METRO vehicles in compliance with policies and traffic laws.
  • Relocate vehicles and direct incoming traffic.
  • Install and remove interior METRO signs as directed.

SERVICE TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for daily servicing of all METRO vehicles and equipment. This involves checking, filling 'topping off' and recording all fluids, and daily cleaning. Performs all phases of interior and exterior METRO vehicle cleaning, which includes, but is not limited to, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, dome lights, handrails, seats, upholstery, gum removal, graffiti removal, trash removal, air conditioning condensers, accessibility lifts, and wheels.

Also includes driving and parking of vehicles, cleaning individual piece parts and sub-assemblies using various chemicals in a safe and professional manner, while maintaining a clean, efficient and safe work area. Operates METRO vehicles while in strict compliance with METRO policies, directives, and procedures and all Federal and Arkansas traffic laws and regulations. This includes using proper defensive driving techniques. Relocates METRO vehicles and directs incoming traffic into the METRO division. Installs and removes interior METRO approved signs as directed.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

A. Knowledge of:

  • Safe driving practices.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to employ standard defensive driving techniques.
  • Automotive preventative maintenance requirements
B. Ability to:
  • Learn METRO’s policies and procedures.
  • Read, write, and make basic mathematic calculations.
  • Work varied hours to cover scheduled operations.
  • Exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions spoken or written in English.
  • Efficiently manage time and workload, which includes prioritizing, organizing, and following-through on a variety of tasks, assignments, and projects to meet deadlines.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, twist, and push/pull and lift up to 85 pounds in a proper safe manner.
  • Take initiative and be a productive, contributing member of a team.
  • Operate vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Work in confined spaces, awkward physical positions, and at various heights
  • Ability to hear directions given; distinguish vehicular problems associated with trouble shooting repairs; visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance.
  • Work evening/night shift starting at 4:00pm
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be to meet the following:

A. Required Education
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
B. Required Prior Experience
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age,
  • Overall knowledge of automobile and be experienced in the use of tools to perform related work.
C. Special Requirements, including Licenses and/or Certifications
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement, issued by the Arkansas Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Must have a good driving record as defined by METRO.
  • Must have the ability to pass a pre-employment background check, a DOT medical examination, and drug screen.
