Job description

We are looking for a Service Technician to join our Guardian Bandsaw team. Over the past 6 years, we have expanded rapidly and we are currently located in Omaha, NE.

Position Overview:
Your primary role requires you to commission and install new equipment in a variety of different plants across the country and service/maintenance work – this means you will be the first to respond and be comfortable with being ready to be on site when needed.

What the role is:
Job Duties:
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on designated equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and repair electrical/mechanical/pneumatic system malfunctions in equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Safety Compliance: Utilize safe working practices; apply lockout/tagout, MSDS, and good housekeeping methods.
  • Equipment Testing: Conduct regular testing of electrical equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and repairs conducted.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering teams to coordinate repairs, maintenance activities, and new installations.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls and perform repairs as needed to ensure continuous operation of critical systems.
  • Training and Development: Stay updated on the latest electrical/mechanical/pneumatic technologies and safety practices. Participate in ongoing training to improve skills and knowledge.
  • Analyze systems requirements, conduct research on equipment and procedures to resolve complex issues, and install new units or replacement parts according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
  • Perform maintenance, installations, and service repairs on critical equipment and systems, ensuring all activities are logged in service reports.
  • Identify required materials and parts for maintenance and repair; prepare and present cost estimates for parts, equipment, and supplies for proposed installations or repairs.
  • Maintain relationships with all customer accounts.
  • Perform periodic technical reviews of SOPs to ensure that the most up-to-date techniques and safety guidelines are utilized.
  • Collect and generate internal and vendor field service reports describing all activities performed at the facility; review all reports prior to submission to end users.
  • Conduct training with operators and other on-site staff personnel on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic systems, and equipment maintenance programs for repairs and operation.

Job Requirements:
Education:
  • A.A.S. in Mechatronics or related field.
  • Will consider military service and years of experience in lieu of a degree or a combination of education and experience.
  • 1 yr Experience working with electrical/mechanical/pneumatic components and systems.
1 yr Experience troubleshooting electrical components including but not limited to:
  • PLC’s.
  • VFD’s.
  • Power Circuits.
  • Relays.
  • Power Supplies.
  • DCS systems.
Knowledge and understanding of working with but not limited to the following equipment:
  • Volt/Ohm/Amp Meter (Multimeter).
  • Current Probe.
  • Megohmmeter.
  • Thorough understanding of AC and DC circuits.
  • Knowledge of servos and related controllers.
  • Power tools and various equipment.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 80% or as business needs require.
  • 1 yr Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1 yr Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety best practices. Experience with GMP is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs, climb, stoop, or bend.
  • Ability to stand up to 8hrs at a time.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel with proficiency.
