Job Description

As a Connect Transit Service Technician we’ll train you to assist in ensuring our fleet of vehicles and equipment, which includes buses, mini-buses, vans, and cars, are ready for our Bus Operators and Mechanics. You will also be trained to maintain our facilities, bus stops, grounds, and equipment and keep them safe at all times.

Wages
  • First year:$22.40 an hour ($46,592 a year)
  • Top rate:$29.99 an hour ($62,379 a year)

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform work functions in accordance with safe practices, company procedures, and government regulations
  • Safely fuel and clean fleet of vehicles
  • Respond to road calls; perform minor maintenance or bus switch out as needed
  • Position vehicles in the lot/garage as instructed for morning departures
  • Perform minor vehicle repairs, such as wiper blades, refill fluids, etc.
  • Clean and maintain bus shelters, signs, amenities as needed
  • Clean, maintain, improve facilities and grounds as assigned
  • Move equipment, supplies, furniture, and tools occasionally
  • Routine lawn maintenance as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Complete required yearly trainings (Diversity/Inclusion in the Workplace, Equal Opportunity, etc.)
Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake and Passenger endorsements (we will train you and pay for the license)
  • Acceptable driving record (No serious traffic or license violations within the last five years)
  • Pass background check
  • Pass Department of Transportation Physical and pre-employment drug test, and willingness to comply with federal drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • 1 year experience with automotive maintenance or general maintenance; or equivalent experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently or as part of a team to accomplish the assigned task.
    • Take verbal and written direction.
    • Operate a forklift (we will train you and certify you on the job).
    • Use a computer for basic resources, parts research, and documentation of work.
    • Work when needed, including nights, weekends, early mornings.
    • Provide your own tools.
    • Work in varying weather conditions, including outdoors during winter.
    • Occasionally lift/move 75-100 pounds.
    • Stand for long periods of time.
