Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Represent Foster Fuels values to customers and the public.
  • Wear Foster Fuels uniform and maintain brand presentation.
  • Install propane tanks (above ground/underground) and appliances.
  • Perform maintenance on propane systems and appliances; including gas checks.
  • Communicate installation details and delays with the Service Manager.
  • Explain service results and operation of appliances to customers.
  • Install propane regulators and run lines from tanks to facilities.
  • Operate machines like mini-excavators, trenchers, and crane trucks.
  • Manage service calls to ensure closure and sign-off.
  • Uphold safety standards and use proper PPE and lifting techniques.

Salary Range: $20.00 To $25.00 Hourly


SUMMARY

The position supports a broad range of disciplines including deliver, set, and install propane tanks, inside and outside lines, conduct system tests, purge cylinders and tanks in accordance with company standards, and maintaining related documentation. Propane service technician will also be responsible for installation and service of propane appliances and heating systems. Extended and on-call hours are required.


SALARY RANGE


  • $20.00/hr. to $25.00/hr. DOE.


DUTIES


  • Represent the values of the company to customers, prospective customers, and the public in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Will wear the uniform provided that displays the Foster Fuels brand (pants, shirts, and hats)

  • Assist the other Propane Technicians or work independently to install propane tanks (above ground and underground) and appliances at customer sites.

  • Provide maintenance on existing propane systems and appliances; to include periodic scheduled maintenance, repairs, gas leak checks, pressure checks and appliance operations.

  • Communicate effectively with the Service Manager about installation complications, changes in the estimated arrival time to work sites and accurately describe the work performed at a work site.

  • Convey the results of service calls and the proper operation of the appliance to the customer in a professional manner.

  • Install propane regulators, run propane lines from the storage tanks to the facility, and connect to appliances.

  • Operate machinery such as mini-excavators, trenchers, and crane trucks.

  • Conduct truck inspections and ensure required inventory and tools are available to conduct the installation.

  • Manage details of the service call to ensure that jobs are complete and signed off as completed and closed.

  • Advocate for all aspects of safety for the service department including appropriate personal protective equipment, proper lifting of heavy parts and equipment, hazardous materials handling, and general safety awareness.

  • Perform any other tasks and duties as assigned, which may or may not relate to the normal scope of this position.


KEY CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES


  • Punctual and flexible work schedule required.

  • Must currently hold a CDL Class B with endorsements or achieve one within 6 months.

  • Must have a clean driving record (0-points) and maintain a clean driving record for the duration of employment.

  • Required to participate in continuing education for applicable NPGA/CETP certifications and state and federal licensing requirements.

  • Must abide by a Drug Free Workplace and Smoking policy.
