Job summary

Lewis Systems & Service Co. Inc. is seeking a dependable Service Technician to install, maintain, repair, and upgrade compressed air and vacuum equipment at customer sites across the Greensboro area.

You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to on-site service requests to ensure customer satisfaction. The role requires mechanical aptitude, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel locally.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; mechanical aptitude required.
  • Experience in service-based organization preferred.
  • Certifications in compressed air equipment are a plus.
  • Ability to pass government background checks and regular drug screening.
  • Must have a valid, unexpired driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily equipment checks to diagnose and repair problems with compressed air and vacuum equipment.
  • Perform annual and semi-annual maintenance and testing on compressed air and vacuum systems.
  • Respond to emergency calls during normal operating hours and outside of normal operating hours.
  • Program, troubleshoot microprocessor and PLC-based equipment controls.
  • Resolve customer-initiated technical issues.
  • Work at customer site and travel to assist other technicians as needed.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and serve as a technical resource to customers.

Summary

The Compressed Air and Vacuum Systems Service Technician serves as an ambassador for the Company and is responsible for repairs and maintenance of compressed air and vacuum equipment residing on client property. Services are performed on-site and on-demand to ensure complete customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions

  • Perform daily equipment checks to diagnose and repair problems with compressed air and vacuum equipment before they occur.
  • Perform annual and semi-annual maintenance and testing on compressed air and vacuum systems.
  • Respond to emergency calls during normal operating hours and outside of normal operating hours.
  • Program, troubleshoot microprocessor and PLC-based equipment controls.
  • Resolve customer-initiated technical issues.
  • Ability to start up and troubleshoot compressed air and vacuum equipment.
  • Work at customer site.
  • Build and maintain client relationships.
  • Serve as a technical resource to customers.
  • Partner with company sales representatives and management to increase service and aftermarket business.
  • Ability to travel to assist other company technicians as needed.
  • Complete daily reports and maintenance checklists as required and send them to the customer and company admin team.

Candidates with prior field experience with compressed air systems are encouraged to apply. Factory certifications for any type of compressed air equipment are not mandatory but would be beneficial.

  • Must live within 1 hour of the Greensboro, NC facility.
  • Willing to train the right candidate.
Requirements & Eligibility
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Previous work history with a service-based organization.
  • Certifications, such as Asse 6040, preferred but not required.
  • The ability to pass government background checks and regular drug screening.
  • Refrigeration Experience a plus but not required.
  • Must have a valid, unexpired driver’s license.
  • Good driving record.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, but the candidate must be able to work flexible hours. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Local travel is expected with this position 100% of the time.

Work Environment

This job operates in Hospital Facilities, Industrial Plant or Service Shop environments. This role routinely uses hand and power tools as well as office equipment such as laptop computers, and smartphones.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position would require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted occasionally. Ability to climb and work on ladders and scaffolding.
