Job summary

R.W. Mercer Company, a family-owned construction and service firm, is seeking a Service Technician in Indiana. The role covers calibrating fuel systems, installing and diagnosing dispensers and related equipment, and ensuring reliable operation across service stations.

You will handle maintenance, safety, and paperwork while working outdoors year-round and sometimes overtime. The ideal candidate is 18+, has a High School diploma or GED, and holds a valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate fuel dispensing units and service stations equipment.
  • Install and diagnose fuel dispensers, POS systems, and environmental monitoring equipment.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on electrical and system components.
  • Maintain appropriate vehicle inventory levels and complete paperwork on time.
  • Adhere to safety requirements and standards; work outdoors year‑round.
  • Flexible schedule with potential overtime as necessary.
  • Regular and prompt attendance and reliable communications.

Job description

R.W Mercer Co. is a family-owned construction and service company headquartered in Jackson, Michigan, with seven locations – six in Michigan and one in Indiana. The company operates in distinct areas of construction: petroleum contracting and service, general contracting, and electrical. In each area, R.W. Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance.

The Service Technician performs many tasks calibrating fuel dispensing units to installing and diagnosing/ repairing fuel dispensers, point of sales systems, environmental monitoring equipment and system communication.

REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to work outdoors year-round
  • Learn through knowledge of service stations equipment and repair procedures

  • Able to work flexible schedule/ overtime when necessary
  • Maintain appropriate vehicle inventory levels
  • Properly complete work orders, time sheets and required paperwork
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Manage and maintain certifications
  • Additional tasks as assigned
