Job summary

Buxton Oil in New Hampshire seeks a Service Technician to install and repair residential and commercial propane and/or oil burner equipment while delivering high-level customer service. You will act as an ambassador for Dead River Company and Buxton Oil by upholding our Brand Promise.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing systems, performing tune-ups, and maintaining safety standards. Training opportunities and competitive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Oil burner and propane service experience required; CETP/PEP training desired.
• At least 1 year of relevant oil/propane service experience.
• Must pass pre-employment physical and have a valid NH driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, service, and repair oil and/or propane heating equipment in accordance with codes and safety requirements.
• Perform efficiency tests, tune-ups, and service inspections.
• Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and ensure tools are in safe operating condition.
• Accurately record parts and labor associated with service calls.
• Assist in training of apprentices.

Job description

$25.98 - $38.96 an Hour Depending on Experience.

Position Summary:

Installs and repairs residential and commercial propane and/or oil burner equipment and appliances while ensuring a high level of customer service. The responsibilities of this position are carried out with particular attention to maintaining customer property and working as a trusted advisor. The Service Technician serves as a Dead River Company and Buxton Oil ambassador by adhering to our Brand Promise.

Essential Functions:

• Install, troubleshoot, service, and repair oil and/or propane heating equipment and appliances in accordance with applicable codes, safety requirements, and company policies.
• Perform efficiency tests, tune-ups, and service inspections.
• Help ensure work is completed safely and correctly the first time to minimize callbacks.
• Deliver professional, courteous service while treating customers and their property with care.
• Help customers understand Dead River Company products and services and recommend appropriate options based on their needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and ensure tools and equipment are in safe operating condition.
• Accurately record parts and labor associated with service calls.
• Maintain and track parts inventory assigned to the service vehicle.
• Promptly report accidents, spills, and liability claims.
• For qualified propane technicians, perform Gas Check inspections according to applicable codes and company policies.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
• Assists in the training of apprentices.

Experience:

• Successful completion of oil burner and or propane training course or CETP/PEP program desired; training and education provided.
• Must have at least one year of relevant oil and/or propane service experience.
• Must have worked under a Master for requisite number of hours.

Education:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical school training is preferred.

Certification and Licensing:

• Must possess a valid New Hampshire Fuel Gas Fitter license/certification appropriate for propane installation, service, and repair.
• Prior oil-fired equipment installation, service, and repair experience required.
• NORA certification preferred.
• HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
• HVAC, electrical wiring and/or plumbing preferred.
• Universal 608 EPA certification preferred for HVAC/refrigeration/heat pump work.
• Previous heating technician experience preferred.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle drivers’ license. Driving record is reviewed at employment, and annually thereafter, and must meet company standards. CDL is not required, but it is desired.
