Job summary

Ohio CAT is seeking a Field Service Technician to provide rapid, on-site support for urgent Caterpillar equipment issues. You will diagnose faults, perform temporary repairs, and minimize customer downtime in the field from a service pickup truck.

The role requires hands-on experience with diesel and heavy equipment, CAT diagnostic tools, and a strong mechanical/electrical aptitude. Valid driver’s license and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical schooling preferred.
• 2+ years of diesel or power equipment training from a tech program.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with diesel, earthmoving, or industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid, on-site support for urgent equipment breakdowns.
• Perform fast diagnostics and temporary repairs to reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot electronic and hydraulic systems.
• Analyze fault codes using Cat ET, Product Link, Service Link, CAT Inspect/Interact.
• Complete ECM updates, telematics installs, and safety service letters.
• Communicate repair status and recommended next steps.
• Escalate major repairs when needed.
• Follow all safety procedures.

What You’ll Do

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling
• Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
• Dexterity Normal
• Repetitive Motions: Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
