Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking experienced Service Technicians to join our U.S. team in the energy and power generation sector. You will service CHP and power generation equipment at customer sites across the United States, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults with a hands-on approach.

The role involves planned and reactive maintenance, on-call rotations, and extensive travel. A valid driver's license and passport are required, with opportunities for training and career progression.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills on CHP or industrial power systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with gas engines, generators or CHP equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintenance and fault-finding on CHP and power gen systems at customer sites.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform repairs.
• Attend reactive breakdowns and on-call service rotations.
• Replace components and carry out major maintenance tasks.
• Provide technical support to customers by phone when required.
• Complete detailed service reports and maintain records.
• Travel extensively within the U.S. and internationally when required.

Job description

We are currently working with a leading business within the energy and power generation sector, who are looking to add experienced Service Technicians to their growing U.S. team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technician with experience working on CHP, gas engines, generators, power generation or similar industrial equipment to join an established organisation and work on a variety of technically challenging equipment across the United States.

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of CHP and power generation systems at customer sites.

The role will involve:

• Carrying out planned preventative and corrective maintenance on CHP and power generation equipment.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Attending reactive breakdowns and unscheduled service calls.
• Servicing natural gas and biogas engines, generator sets and associated equipment.
• Carrying out component replacement and major maintenance activities.
• Supporting engine overhauls and refurbishment projects.
• Fault-finding across engines, generators, control systems, relays, protective devices and associated equipment.
• Working from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Carrying out electrical and mechanical testing and equipment calibration.
• Providing technical support to customers by telephone when required.
• Completing detailed service reports and maintaining accurate service records.
• Working directly with customers to ensure equipment is operating safely, reliably and efficiently.
• Working closely with the wider technical team and OEMs to resolve complex technical issues.
• Participating in an on-call service rotation.

You will ideally have:

• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with gas engines, generators, CHP or industrial power generation equipment.
• The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach.
• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• A valid U.S. driver's licence.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a passport.
• Flexibility to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally when required.
• Ideally, 3–5 years' experience within a related technical or industrial environment.
